Healthy mini steaks made with pork belly rolled around hanpen for a unique texture. The sweet and sour black vinegar-based sauce is incredibly appetizing. It's quick and easy to make, perfect for busy days. The convenient mixed seasoning can also be used for sweet and sour pork and fried dishes.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Pork Belly Slices 5 (cut in half lengthwise)
  • Hanpen 1 piece
  • Sliced Onion (to taste)
  • Bell Peppers (Red, Green) (to taste)
  • All-Purpose Flour 1 tbsp
  • Potato Starch 1 tbsp
  • Beaten Egg 1 tbsp

Seasonings

  • [A] Soy Sauce 1 tbsp
  • [A] Brown Sugar 3 tbsp
  • [A] Black Vinegar 3 tbsp
  • [A] Ketchup 1 tbsp
  • [A] Apple Juice 3 tbsp
  • Potato Starch Slurry (Potato Starch mixed with water) 1 tsp
  • Sesame Oil 1 tbsp
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine Soy Sauce 1 tbsp, Brown Sugar 3 tbsp, Black Vinegar 3 tbsp, Ketchup 1 tbsp, and Apple Juice 3 tbsp. Mix well.
  2. Cut the Hanpen into 1.5-2cm thick, 5cm long pieces.
  3. Season the pork belly slices with Salt (to taste) and Pepper (to taste), then wrap them around the cut Hanpen.
  4. In another bowl, combine All-Purpose Flour 1 tbsp, Potato Starch 1 tbsp, and Beaten Egg 1 tbsp. Mix well to create a batter.
  5. Coat the Hanpen-wrapped pork evenly with the batter.
  6. Heat a frying pan over medium heat without oil. Place the battered pork rolls in the pan.
  7. Once the surface is lightly colored, remove the pork rolls from the pan temporarily.
  8. In the same frying pan, add the prepared black vinegar sauce and heat while stirring.
  9. Once the sauce comes to a boil, add Potato Starch Slurry 1 tsp to thicken.
  10. Return the pork rolls to the pan and coat them evenly with the black vinegar sauce.
  11. Finish by drizzling Sesame Oil 1 tbsp over the rolls.
  12. Arrange Sliced Onion (to taste) and Bell Peppers (Red, Green) (to taste) on a plate, then place the pork rolls in the center.
