Ingredients
Main Ingredients (7 pancakes)
- Gyoza wrappers 28 sheets
- Scallions 5 stalks (30g)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Water 2 tbsp
Seasonings
- [A] Salt and pepper 1/4 tsp
- [A] Sesame oil 2 tsp
Steps
- Finely chop 5 scallions (30g) into 3mm thick pieces.
- In a bowl, add the chopped scallions. Mix in 1/4 tsp salt and pepper and 2 tsp sesame oil until well combined.
- Wet 4 gyoza wrappers with water and arrange them on a flat surface, overlapping the edges to connect them.
- Place the mixed scallion filling slightly forward of the center on the connected gyoza wrappers.
- Lift the dough from the front and roll it up tightly.
- Once rolled, tuck the seam inward and continue to roll to form a spiral shape.
- Once in a spiral, tuck the end underneath and flatten it by pressing down with your palm.
- Roll out the dough using a rolling pin.
- Heat vegetable oil (for frying) in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Place the flattened dough into the heated frying pan.
- After placing the dough, add 2 tbsp water, cover with a lid, and steam-fry.
- Once one side is golden brown, flip the dough over.
- Add more oil if needed, and cook until both sides are golden brown. **Key Tip:** Layering and rolling the gyoza wrappers creates a flaky texture similar to puff pastry. Tucking the seam inward ensures the filling stays securely inside for a delicious result.
