Recreate the 'Hamburger Restaurant's TKG' (Tamago Kake Gohan) served for breakfast at the nationally famous restaurant, Bikkuri Donki, at home. This is a blissful Tamago Kake Gohan made by easily preparing a special sweet and savory hamburger sauce in the microwave, then mixing it with hot rice and egg.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (1 serving)

  • Rice 200g
  • Egg 1
  • Onion 30g
  • Butter 5g
  • Black Pepper to taste

Seasonings

  • [A] Soy Sauce 1 tbsp
  • [A] Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine) 2 tsp
  • [A] Sake 1/2 tbsp
  • [A] Sugar 1/3 tsp
  • [A] Aji-no-moto 5 dashes

Steps

  1. Place 30g onion in a BoonBoon Chopper and finely chop.
  2. Remove the blade from the BoonBoon Chopper (or heat-resistant container) containing the finely chopped onion, then add 1/3 tsp sugar, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tsp Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine), 1/2 tbsp sake, 5 dashes Aji-no-moto, and 5g butter.
  3. Heat in a 600W microwave for 2 minutes and 30 seconds without plastic wrap to make the hamburger sauce. Tip! Heating without plastic wrap allows moisture to evaporate appropriately, resulting in the perfect consistency.
  4. Heat 200g rice and a rice bowl in the microwave until very hot. Tip! Mixing the egg white into the very hot rice will cook it slightly, creating a delicious texture.
  5. To the very hot rice in the warmed bowl, add only the egg white of 1 egg and mix.
  6. Pour all the prepared hamburger sauce over the egg white mixed into the rice.
  7. Place the reserved egg yolk on top.
  8. If desired, sprinkle with black pepper to taste and it's ready.
