- Finely julienne the carrot and napa cabbage.
- Place the julienned carrot and napa cabbage in a heatproof container, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave for 3 minutes at 600W.
- Allow the microwaved carrot and napa cabbage to cool slightly, then squeeze out the excess water by hand.
- In a bowl, combine the ground pork, squeezed carrot and napa cabbage, and seasonings.
- Add the potato starch and mix well until everything is evenly incorporated.
- Take portions of the mixed ingredients and roll them into balls by hand.
- Arrange the rolled shumai on a frying pan lined with parchment paper.
- Pour water underneath the parchment paper.
- Heat the pan, and once boiling, cover with a lid and simmer over medium-low heat for 10 minutes.
