Just 5 minutes with only two seasonings! This 'Limit Katsu Don' uses convenience store chicken as katsu for an incredibly delicious and easy meal. It's a lazy recipe that creates a superb donburi even on days when you're tired from work or workouts, with no knives or cutting boards needed.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (1 serving)
- 1 bowl rice
- 1/4 long green onion
- 1 convenience store fried chicken piece
- 1 egg
Seasonings
- [A] 60cc water
- [A] 2 tbsp mentsuyu (3x concentrate)
- [A] 2 tsp sugar
- Shichimi togarashi to taste
Steps
- Cut 1/4 long green onion diagonally with cooking scissors. 【Here's the trick!】 Crushing the green onions by hand beforehand enhances their aroma.
- In a small pot, add 60cc water, 2 tbsp mentsuyu (3x concentrate), 2 tsp sugar, and the cut long green onion.
- Lightly mix the seasonings in the small pot, cover, and heat over low heat. 【Here's the trick!】 Cover and heat to quickly cook the green onions.
- Place 1 convenience store fried chicken piece on spread-out aluminum foil and lightly spray with water using a mist sprayer.
- Place in a toaster oven and heat for 1-2 minutes, being careful not to burn, to crisp up the surface.
- Lightly beat 1 egg, leaving some white remaining.
- Once the long green onion in the small pot is tender, turn the heat to medium and add the heated fried chicken.
- Immediately pour in the beaten egg, cover, and heat for about 10 seconds.
- Turn off the heat and let it sit for 20-30 seconds to achieve a semi-cooked egg.
- Place 1 bowl rice in a donburi bowl, and top with the heated fried chicken and egg.
- Sprinkle with shichimi togarashi to taste, if desired.
