- Bread (8-slice thickness) 2 slices
- Roast Ham 2 slices
- Sliced Cheese 1 slice
Seasonings
- Salt (to taste)
- Ketchup (to taste)
- Granulated Sugar (to taste)
Steps
- Finely slice 20g carrot.
- Finely shred 1 sheet (approx. 50g) cabbage.
- Combine half of the shredded cabbage with the sliced carrot in a bowl.
- Finely chop 1 stalk green onion.
- Add the chopped green onion to the bowl.
- Crack 1 egg into the bowl.
- Add salt to taste and mix thoroughly to create a vegetable-rich egg mixture. (Key Tip!) For a thicker omelet, using 2 eggs is also recommended.
- Heat a frying pan and add an appropriate amount of butter.
- Place 1 slice of bread (8-slice thickness) in the pan and toast one side until golden brown, soaking up plenty of butter. (Key Tip!) Don't worry about calories; soaking the bread generously in butter is the secret to making it delicious.
- Flip the bread and add an appropriate amount of butter to the other side, toasting until golden brown.
- While collecting the remaining butter, toast the other 1 slice of bread (8-slice thickness) similarly on both sides until golden brown.
- Remove the toasted buttered bread from the pan.
- Using the butter remaining in the pan, add more butter.
- Once the butter melts, pour in the prepared vegetable and egg mixture.
- Cook slowly, shaping the omelet to fit the size of the bread.
- Once one side is golden brown, flip and cook the other side. (Key Tip!) Ensure the vegetables are cooked through by folding the edges or shaping it to your preference.
- Place 2 slices of roast ham on top of the cooked omelet and lightly grill.
- Place 1 slice of sliced cheese on top of the ham, and heat just until the cheese is warm.
- Generously pile the remaining shredded cabbage on top of the omelet.
- Carefully place the cooked omelet and ham on top of the cabbage.
- Drizzle with ketchup to taste, if desired.
- Sprinkle with granulated sugar to taste. (Key Tip!) The sweetness from the granulated sugar is a key element to the deliciousness of street toast.
- Sandwich the filling between the toasted buttered bread slices.
- Cut the finished toast in half.
