Simply mix and bake chicken breast with new onions for a surprisingly delicious result that doesn't taste like it costs only 20 cents per piece! This budget-friendly, easy, and healthy "Crispy Onion Chicken" is a main dish that the whole family will love.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- New Onion 1 pc (approx. 150g)
- Chicken Breast 200g
- Potato Starch 2 tbsp
Seasonings
- Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 1 tbsp
- Granulated Consomme 1 tsp
- Grated Garlic 1 tsp
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
- Olive Oil (as needed)
Steps
- Peel and finely chop 1 New Onion (approx. 150g). (Tip: If using regular onions, microwave for 1-1.5 minutes before chopping.)
- Remove skin from 200g Chicken Breast and cut into approx. 2cm cubes. Finely chop and use the chicken skin as well.
- Mince the cut chicken breast and chicken skin using a knife.
- Place the minced chicken in a bowl.
- Add 1 tbsp Cooking Sake (Rice Wine), 2 tbsp Potato Starch, 1 tsp Granulated Consomme, 1 tsp Grated Garlic, a pinch of Salt, and a pinch of Pepper to the bowl. Mix well until sticky.
- Add the finely chopped New Onion to the mixed chicken and combine until uniformly blended.
- Heat Olive Oil in a frying pan over medium heat. (Note: Vegetable oil can be substituted if olive oil is unavailable.)
- Once the pan is hot, scoop the mixed ingredients with a spoon and place them in flat, round shapes.
- Cook until the bottom is golden brown.
- Flip when browned.
- Cover with a lid and steam over low-medium heat for 2 minutes to cook through.
- Arrange the cooked Crispy Onion Chicken on a plate.
