Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Bread (thick cut) 2 slices
  • Sausages 3 pcs
  • Sliced Cheese (melting) 5 slices
  • Walnuts 5g
  • Potato Starch 1/4 tsp

Seasonings

  • [A] Brown Sugar 1 tbsp
  • [A] Cinnamon Powder (to taste)
  • Vegetable Oil (to taste)
  • Butter 5g
  • Ketchup (to taste)
  • Coarse Black Pepper (to taste)
  • Honey (to taste)
  • Cinnamon Powder (to taste)

Steps

  1. Cut 2 slices of bread (thick cut) into circles using a cookie cutter. Separate the cut-out circles and the remaining crusts.
  2. Cut 3 sausages into 3 equal pieces.
  3. Make the Hotteok filling. Finely chop 5g of walnuts.
  4. Mix the chopped walnuts with 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1/4 tsp potato starch, and cinnamon powder (to taste), if desired.
  5. Prepare the Cheese Sseokpan. Thread the bread crusts and cut sausages alternately onto skewers.
  6. Prepare the Hotteok. Sandwich the Hotteok filling into the round bread slices and press firmly by hand to seal.
  7. Lightly oil a frying pan with a tiny amount of vegetable oil. Place the Hotteok, seam-side down, and cook. Press with a spatula to brown both sides until golden.
  8. Lightly wipe the surface of the same pan and melt 5g of butter. While coating with butter, grill the bread and sausages on the skewers for the Cheese Sseokpan until golden brown on both sides.
  9. Lightly wipe the surface of the pan and spread out 5 slices of melting cheese. Heat until melted.
  10. Once the cheese is melted, place the grilled Sseokpan on top and heat until the cheese is easy to peel off the pan.
  11. Once the edges of the cheese are golden brown, flip the Sseokpan to coat with cheese and grill the sides.
  12. Cut the cooked Hotteok in half. Drizzle with honey (to taste) or cinnamon powder (to taste), if desired.
  13. Serve the Cheese Sseokpan with coarse black pepper (to taste) or ketchup (to taste), if desired.
