A simple and budget-friendly recipe that only requires mixing and baking tofu, kimchi, and cheese! Introducing how to make "Tofu Kimchi Cheese Bake," which has a chewy texture and is perfect as an appetizer or side dish.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (1 piece)
- Tofu 1/2 block (approx. 150g)
- Egg 1
- Rice Flour or Potato Starch 3 tbsp
- Kimchi 70g
- Sliced Melting Cheese 1 slice
- Chopped Green Onion (to taste)
Seasonings
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
- Sesame Oil (to taste)
Steps
- Place tofu 1/2 block (approx. 150g) in a bowl and mash into a paste using a whisk or similar tool.
- Add 1 egg to the bowl with the tofu and mix.
- Continue by adding rice flour or potato starch 3 tbsp and mix well. (Tip: If you don't have rice flour, you can substitute with potato starch.)
- Finally, add kimchi 70g and salt and pepper to taste, and mix everything evenly.
- Heat sesame oil to taste in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the pan is hot, pour the mixed batter into the pan in a circle with a diameter of 20-22cm.
- Cook until the bottom is browned and the batter is set. (Tip: The batter is ready to flip when it starts to move.)
- Once browned, carefully slide the cooked batter out of the pan onto a plate.
- Place the frying pan upside down over the removed batter and quickly flip it back into the pan. (Tip: If there's excess oil in the pan, pour it over the batter before flipping to prevent burns.)
- If the shape has become uneven, use a spatula to round it out.
- Place 1 slice of melting cheese in the center of the batter.
- Cover the pan with a lid and steam-bake over low heat for 3 minutes.
- Once the cheese has melted and the base is browned, it's ready.
- Transfer the finished Tofu Kimchi Cheese Bake to a plate.
- Sprinkle chopped green onion to taste over the center of the finished Tofu Kimchi Cheese Bake.
