A surprisingly delicious 'Stuffed Lettuce Sandwich' recipe packed with lettuce. The crispy lettuce and special mayonnaise sauce with a kick of yuzu pepper are exquisite. It's easy to make, healthy, and incredibly satisfying.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Lettuce 100g
  • Sandwich Bread (8-slice thickness) 2 slices
  • Margarine (to taste)

Seasonings

  • [A] Mayonnaise 1 tbsp
  • [A] Soy Sauce 1/2 tsp
  • [A] Sugar 1/3 tsp
  • [A] Yuzu Pepper 1/3 to 1/2 tsp
  • Salt (a pinch)

Steps

  1. Wash 100g of lettuce and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Remove any bruised parts of the lettuce and arrange them on paper towels, overlapping slightly.
  3. Fold the base of the lettuce inwards, then fold in the sides, shaping the lettuce to fit the bread.
  4. Wrap the folded lettuce, sized to fit the bread, in two layers of paper towels.
  5. Gently press the wrapped lettuce with your palms to flatten it.
  6. In a bowl, combine 1 tbsp of mayonnaise, 1/2 tsp of soy sauce, 1/3 tsp of sugar, and 1/3 to 1/2 tsp of yuzu pepper. Mix well.
  7. Spread margarine (to taste) on one side of 2 slices of sandwich bread.
  8. On the margarine-coated side of the bread, spread half of the mixed seasoning sauce on each slice.
  9. Remove the lettuce from the paper towels and place it on the seasoned bread.
  10. Sprinkle a pinch of salt lightly over the lettuce.
  11. Top with the other slice of bread, seasoned side down, and place on plastic wrap.
  12. Pull the opposite corners of the plastic wrap taut to tightly wrap the sandwich. This is the key! Wrapping tightly with plastic wrap helps the lettuce fit into the bread and creates a clean cut surface.
  13. Place the plastic-wrapped sandwich in the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes to rest.
  14. Cut the rested sandwich.
