Ingredients
Main Ingredients (8 buns)
- 100g All-Purpose Flour
- 200g Smooth Red Bean Paste (Koshian)
- 30g Sugar
- 50ml Water
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
Seasonings
Steps
- Divide the 200g of Smooth Red Bean Paste into 8 equal portions (approx. 25g each) and roll into balls.
- In a bowl, combine 100g All-Purpose Flour, 1 tsp Baking Powder, and 30g Sugar. Mix well with a whisk until uniform.
- Add 50ml Water and mix until the dough starts to come together. Then, bring it together with your hands.
- Lightly dust a cutting board with flour (not included in ingredient list). Place the dough on the board, stretch it out by hand, and divide into 8 portions.
- Thinly stretch out each dough portion with your palm. Place a rolled red bean paste ball in the center. Gather the edges of the dough to enclose the filling, pinch to seal securely, and shape into a round bun.
- Place each shaped bun on a square piece of parchment paper. Cover with plastic wrap to prevent drying.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and red bean paste until all buns are formed.
- Add 1-2cm of Water (not included in ingredient list) to a frying pan. Set up a steaming rack (or an inverted heatproof dish on another heatproof dish) and bring to a boil. *Tip: If using heatproof dishes, do not place them directly on the frying pan. Use a smaller inverted heatproof dish as a base to elevate the dish holding the buns.*
- Once the water is boiling, turn off the heat. Arrange as many buns as will fit on the steaming rack in a single layer.
- Turn the heat back on. Once boiling, cover with a lid and steam on low heat for 10 minutes.
- Steam the remaining buns in the same manner.
