Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Firm Tofu 1 block (300g)
  • Potato Starch 3 tbsp

Seasonings

  • [A] Mayonnaise 3 tbsp
  • [A] Ketchup 2 tbsp
  • [A] Honey 1 tbsp
  • [A] Soy Sauce 1/2 tsp
  • [A] Vinegar 1 tsp
  • [A] Grated Garlic 1 tsp
  • Coarsely Ground Black Pepper (to taste)

Steps

  1. Place 1 block (300g) of Firm Tofu on a plate with a weight on top and let it drain for about 30 minutes. (This is the key!) Thoroughly removing the water improves the texture, helps the potato starch adhere better, and prevents oil splatter.
  2. In a bowl, combine 3 tbsp of Mayonnaise, 2 tbsp of Ketchup, 1 tbsp of Honey, 1/2 tsp of Soy Sauce, 1 tsp of Vinegar, and 1 tsp of Grated Garlic. Mix well.
  3. Cut the drained tofu into 2-3 cm cubes.
  4. Place the cut tofu and 3 tbsp of Potato Starch into a ziplock bag. Close the bag and gently shake to evenly coat the tofu with potato starch. (This is the key!) Using a ziplock bag keeps your hands clean and makes coating with potato starch easy. Be gentle when shaking to avoid breaking the tofu.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, arrange the potato starch-coated tofu pieces in the pan.
  6. Flip the tofu pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides and firm. Remove from the pan and drain excess oil.
  7. Add the drained tofu to the bowl with the mixed seasonings and toss to ensure the tofu is well coated.
  8. Plate the tofu and sprinkle with Coarsely Ground Black Pepper and chopped green onions, if desired.
