- New Onions 2 pcs
- Garlic 1 clove
- Bacon 2 slices
- Pizza Cheese 30g
Seasonings
- Salt (to taste)
- Olive Oil 2 tbsp
- Water 1 tbsp
- Coarsely Ground Pepper (to taste)
Steps
- Cut 2 New Onions in half, then into 6 wedges each, keeping the core intact.
- Lightly crush 1 clove Garlic and remove the core.
- Cut 2 slices of Bacon into bite-sized pieces.
- Arrange the chopped New Onions and Garlic in a frying pan.
- Place the cut Bacon on top of the New Onions like a hat. This allows the bacon's umami to easily seep into the onions.
- Sprinkle Salt (to taste) evenly and drizzle with 2 tbsp Olive Oil.
- Add 1 tbsp Water, cover with a lid, and steam.
- When you hear sizzling from the pan, reduce the heat and continue steaming.
- Remove the lid and gather the New Onions and Bacon, then flip them over.
- Add another 1 tbsp Water, cover with the lid again, and steam.
- Open the lid and check if the New Onions are melty.
- Sprinkle 30g of Pizza Cheese over the entire surface. Adding the right amount of cheese as an umami booster enhances the natural deliciousness of the new onions.
- Cover with the lid again until the cheese is melted.
- Serve on a plate with the melted cheese.
- Sprinkle with Coarsely Ground Pepper (to taste), if desired.
