- Ground beef and pork 200g
- Egg 1
- Water 2 tbsp
- Panko breadcrumbs 4 tbsp
- Onion 1/4 (60g)
- Small potato 1 (100g)
- Carrot 1/6 (30g)
- Maitake mushrooms 30g
Seasonings
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
- [A] Water 1 tbsp
- [A] Worcestershire sauce 2 tbsp
- [A] Ketchup 3 tbsp
Steps
- Finely chop 1/4 onion.
- Place the chopped onion in a microwave-safe container, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave on 600W for 1 minute. Let it cool.
- Peel and remove the eyes from 1 small potato, then cut into 4 pieces.
- Place the cut potato in a microwave-safe container, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave on 600W for 2 minutes.
- In a bowl, lightly beat 1 egg. Add 2 tbsp water and 4 tbsp panko breadcrumbs and mix.
- In a separate bowl, add 200g ground beef and pork. Season with a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper. Knead until sticky.
- Add the cooled chopped onion to the meat mixture and mix well.
- Divide the meat mixture into 2 portions. Tap them on your palm to remove air and shape into ovals. Make an indentation in the center.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Place the shaped meat patties in the heated frying pan. Sear on both sides until browned, flipping once. (Key Tip!) Searing the surface beforehand locks in the flavor and juices, ensuring a juicy result.
- Prepare a large piece of aluminum foil, about 40cm long. Transfer the seared patties onto the foil.
- In the same frying pan used for the patties, add 1 tbsp water, 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, and 3 tbsp ketchup. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- Once the sauce begins to bubble, it is ready.
- Place the microwaved carrot and potato next to the Salisbury steak.
- Tear 30g maitake mushrooms into bite-sized pieces and add them as a side.
- Pour half of the prepared sauce over the Salisbury steak.
- Fold the aluminum foil in half and crimp the edges securely to wrap the Salisbury steak.
- Bake in the preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 20 minutes.
- Carefully remove from the oven, being mindful of the heat. Cut open the aluminum foil and serve on a plate.
