An easy apple pie recipe. The perfect harmony of flaky pie crust, smooth custard, and sweet and tart stewed apple filling. Try this delightful homemade sweet treat, perfect for snacks or dessert.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (6 servings)
- 1 Apple
- 3 sheets Frozen Pie Dough
- 1 Egg
- 100ml Milk
- 1 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
Seasonings
- [A] 25g Granulated Sugar
- [A] 5 drops Vanilla Extract
- [B] 30g Granulated Sugar
- [B] 2 tsp Lemon Juice
- [B] 15g Unsalted Butter
- [C] 1 tsp Water
Steps
- In a bowl, add 1/2 egg and 25g granulated sugar, then mix quickly.
- Add about half of the 100ml milk and mix well.
- Sift in 1 tbsp all-purpose flour and mix thoroughly.
- Add the remaining milk and mix again.
- Finally, add 5 drops vanilla extract and mix. Cover with plastic wrap.
- Microwave on 600W for 1 minute 30 seconds, then stir. Cover again with plastic wrap and microwave for 1 minute, then stir. Microwave for another 40 seconds, then stir.
- Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface and cool in an ice bath.
- Peel the apple and cut into approximately 1cm cubes.
- Place the cut apple in a pot, add 30g granulated sugar and 2 tsp lemon juice, and coat.
- Add 15g unsalted butter and bring to a heat while melting the butter.
- Reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Remove the lid, stir to evaporate the moisture, and cook until desired color is achieved. Once reduced, remove from heat, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface, and let cool.
- Cut the frozen pie dough into 4 equal portions.
- For the top crust, make cuts with a 1cm margin from the top and bottom edges.
- In a bowl, combine 1/2 egg and 1 tsp water, and mix well to create an egg wash.
- Apply egg wash to the edges of the bottom pie crust.
- Place the chilled custard cream on top.
- Add the chilled apple filling over the custard.
- Cover with the pie crust that has cuts, and press the edges with a fork to seal the top and bottom crusts together.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush the surface with egg wash.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) for 15 to 20 minutes.
