Minayo Watanabe reveals an easy roast beef recipe made with a frying pan and aluminum foil. By seasoning the meat thoroughly and searing it to lock in the juices, anyone can make delicious roast beef. This dish is also perfect for bento boxes.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Beef Round 300g

Seasonings

  • Grated Garlic (to taste)
  • Coarse Salt & Pepper (to taste)
  • Soy Sauce 1 tbsp
  • Olive Oil 1 tbsp

Steps

  1. Pierce Beef Round (300g) all over with a fork.
  2. Bring Beef Round to room temperature.
  3. Place Beef Round in a resealable bag.
  4. Generously rub Grated Garlic (to taste) and Coarse Salt & Pepper (to taste) into the Beef Round.
  5. Add Soy Sauce (1 tbsp) and mix well.
  6. Let the seasoned meat sit at room temperature for 10-30 minutes.
  7. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add Olive Oil (1 tbsp).
  8. Place the Beef Round in the frying pan and sear each side for 2 minutes, for a total of 6 sides, until golden brown. [Key Tip!] Sear firmly until a crust forms to lock in the meat's juices.
  9. Wrap the seared Beef Round tightly in aluminum foil.
  10. Let the foil-wrapped meat rest for 20-30 minutes. [Key Tip!] Resting allows the heat to cook the center evenly and the juices to redistribute, resulting in a moist texture.
  11. Slice the roast beef into your desired thickness.
