A super simple recipe from Kentetsu Kō, with minimal ingredients and easy steps for 'Soy Sauce Stir-Fried Pork and Lettuce'. The key is to quickly sear the spring lettuce over high heat for a fragrant finish. This addictive dish is perfect for busy days.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Thinly Sliced Pork Belly 150g
  • Lettuce 1/2 head

Seasonings

  • Sesame Oil (to taste)
  • Soy Sauce 1 tbsp
  • Salt (a pinch)
  • Coarsely Ground Black Pepper (a pinch)

Steps

  1. Cut the core of the lettuce into a V-shape.
  2. Tear half a head of lettuce into bite-sized pieces and wash.
  3. Cut 150g of thinly sliced pork belly into bite-sized pieces.
  4. Lightly loosen the cut pork.
  5. Lightly season the pork with a pinch of salt and let it absorb.
  6. Heat a small amount of sesame oil (to taste) in a frying pan.
  7. Once the pan is hot, add the pork and stir to prevent it from clumping as it cooks.
  8. Once the pork changes color, increase the heat to high.
  9. Add the washed lettuce and sear over high heat. [Key Tip!] Don't aim for crisp lettuce; sear it over high heat for a fragrant finish.
  10. Once the lettuce wilts, pour 1 tbsp of soy sauce along the edge of the pan and stir-fry quickly over high heat.
  11. When everything is cooked through, drizzle a little sesame oil around the pan for extra flavor.
  12. Plate the dish.
  13. Generously sprinkle a pinch of coarsely ground black pepper on top as a finishing touch.
