  • New Onions 2 pcs
  • Garlic 1 clove
  • Bacon 2 slices
  • Pizza Cheese 30g

Seasonings

  • Salt (to taste)
  • Olive Oil 2 tbsp
  • Water 1 tbsp
  • Coarsely Ground Pepper (to taste)

Steps

  1. Cut 2 New Onions in half, then into 6 wedges each, keeping the core intact.
  2. Lightly crush 1 clove Garlic and remove the core.
  3. Cut 2 slices of Bacon into bite-sized pieces.
  4. Arrange the chopped New Onions and Garlic in a frying pan.
  5. Place the cut Bacon on top of the New Onions like a hat. This allows the bacon's umami to easily seep into the onions.
  6. Sprinkle Salt (to taste) evenly and drizzle with 2 tbsp Olive Oil.
  7. Add 1 tbsp Water, cover with a lid, and steam.
  8. When you hear sizzling from the pan, reduce the heat and continue steaming.
  9. Remove the lid and gather the New Onions and Bacon, then flip them over.
  10. Add another 1 tbsp Water, cover with the lid again, and steam.
  11. Open the lid and check if the New Onions are melty.
  12. Sprinkle 30g of Pizza Cheese over the entire surface. Adding the right amount of cheese as an umami booster enhances the natural deliciousness of the new onions.
  13. Cover with the lid again until the cheese is melted.
  14. Serve on a plate with the melted cheese.
  15. Sprinkle with Coarsely Ground Pepper (to taste), if desired.
