A simple chicken hamburg steak packed with new onions, made without eggs. This recipe uses minimal ingredients to create a healthy and juicy feast. Perfect for bento boxes and a budget-friendly meal.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2-3 servings)
- 1 Onion (approx. 150g)
- 150g Ground Chicken
- 3 tbsp Breadcrumbs
- Breadcrumbs (for coating)
Seasonings
- 1 tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp Cooking Sake (Rice Wine)
- 1 tsp Granulated Consomme
- 1 tsp Grated Garlic
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
- Vegetable Oil
Steps
- Peel and finely chop 1 Onion (approx. 150g).
- Place the chopped onion in a heatproof container, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave for 1 minute at 600W.
- Strain the microwaved onion in a colander, drain, and let cool.
- In a bowl, combine 150g Ground Chicken, 1 tbsp Mayonnaise, 1 tbsp Cooking Sake (Rice Wine), 1 tsp Granulated Consomme, 1 tsp Grated Garlic, Salt (to taste), Pepper (to taste), and 3 tbsp Breadcrumbs. Mix until sticky.
- Add the cooled onion and mix until everything is combined.
- Spread breadcrumbs (for coating) on a plate.
- Scoop the mixture with a spoon, place it on the spread breadcrumbs, and shape into a round patty while coating with breadcrumbs.
- Shake off excess breadcrumbs and arrange in a frying pan.
- Pour enough Vegetable Oil into the frying pan to cover the bottom of the hamburg steaks and heat over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot and bubbly, cook until the bottom is browned.
- Flip and cook the other side until browned.
- Once both sides are golden brown, remove from the pan and drain excess oil.
- Transfer to a plate and serve. Tips! Serve with your favorite condiments, or use as a filling for sandwiches or a bento side dish.
