Easily made using only a microwave and toaster, these fried tofu pockets are filled with a special tartar sauce flavored with perilla leaves. They're crispy, fragrant, and perfect for hot days since no stove is needed. A truly exquisite recipe!

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Onion 1/4 (approx. 60g)
  • Eggs 3
  • Perilla Leaves 5
  • Square Fried Tofu Pockets 4

Seasonings

  • Mayonnaise 3 tbsp
  • Soy Sauce 1 tsp
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Steps

  1. Peel and finely chop 1/4 onion (approx. 60g).
  2. Place the chopped onion in a microwave-safe container.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave the onion on 600W for 1 minute.
  4. Move the microwaved onion to the edge of the bowl.
  5. Crack 3 eggs into the empty space and pierce the yolks a few times.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave the onion and eggs together on 600W for 2.5 minutes.
  7. Mash the microwaved eggs and mix them with the onion. (Key Tip!) If the eggs are still too soft, microwave for an additional 15 seconds.
  8. In a separate bowl, combine 3 tbsp mayonnaise, 1 tsp soy sauce, and salt and pepper (to taste). Mix well.
  9. Trim the stems from 5 perilla leaves and finely chop them. (Key Tip!) If you don't like perilla leaves, you can substitute with green onions.
  10. Add the chopped perilla leaves to the sauce and mix thoroughly.
  11. Make a cut along one side of 4 fried tofu pockets to create a pocket shape.
  12. Fill the fried tofu pockets with the tartar sauce.
  13. Arrange the filled fried tofu pockets on a toaster tray. Flip them halfway through and toast until both sides are golden brown and crispy. (Key Tip!) Toasting in a toaster gives a crispy and fragrant texture on the outside. Since you can make this with just the microwave and toaster without using the stove, it's easy to make deliciously even on hot days.
