It's budget-friendly at 80 yen per serving, and can be stored in the freezer for up to a month or in the refrigerator for 5 days. Enjoy it with pasta, bread, and a variety of other dishes!
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (4-6 servings)
- Ground beef and pork mix 300g
- Onion 1 (200g)
- Carrot 1/2 (100g)
- Garlic 1 clove
- Vegetable Oil 2 tsp
- All-purpose flour 1/2 tbsp
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
- Canned diced tomatoes 1 can
- Water 100ml
Seasonings
- [A] Ketchup 2 tbsp
- [A] Worcestershire Sauce 1 tbsp
- [A] Sugar 1 tbsp
- [A] Miso Paste 1 tbsp
- [A] Granulated Consommé 2 tsp
Steps
- Finely chop 1 onion (200g), 1/2 carrot (100g), and 1 garlic clove.
- Heat 2 tsp of vegetable oil in a frying pan. Add the chopped onions, carrots, and garlic, and sauté until tender.
- Push the sautéed vegetables to one side of the pan. Add 300g of ground beef and pork mix to the empty space and cook until it changes color.
- Once the ground meat is cooked, mix it with the vegetables.
- Turn off the heat. Add 1/2 tbsp all-purpose flour, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of pepper, and mix well.
- Add 1 can of diced tomatoes, 100ml of water, 2 tbsp ketchup, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp miso paste, and 2 tsp granulated consommé. Mix everything well. (The secret tip here is using miso paste for a rich, deep flavor!)
- Simmer over low heat for about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened enough that a line drawn with a spatula stays put.
- Once the moisture has evaporated, turn off the heat and transfer the meat sauce to a tray or similar to cool down.
- Once cooled, transfer the meat sauce to a freezer bag, remove excess air, and seal the bag tightly.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or in the freezer for up to 1 month.
- To serve, heat in the microwave.
- Enjoy it over boiled pasta or on toast with bread.
