An exquisite tomato cream pasta made only with ketchup and milk, no canned tomatoes needed. This is a hassle-free one-pan recipe that doesn't require a knife and is completed in a single frying pan. Although it's called 'poor man's,' the taste is authentic and offers rich depth.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 1.4mm pasta 100g
  • Milk 120cc
  • Butter 10g
  • Water 280cc

Seasonings

  • Ketchup 25g
  • Consommé 1 and 1/4 tsp
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese to taste
  • Tabasco to taste

Steps

  1. Put 25g ketchup into a frying pan and sauté over low heat until it becomes a paste. 【This is the trick!】 By simmering the ketchup, its acidity will diminish, creating a deep flavor similar to canned tomatoes.
  2. After turning off the heat, add 280cc water and 1 and 1/4 tsp consommé to the frying pan and bring to a boil once.
  3. Once boiling, add 100g 1.4mm pasta and simmer over medium heat for 4 minutes until all the liquid has evaporated.
  4. Once the pasta liquid has evaporated, add 120cc milk, 10g butter, and black pepper to taste, and simmer for 1-2 minutes until the noodles are soft.
  5. Once the mixture thickens and the pasta is soft, turn off the heat and serve on a plate.
  6. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese to taste or Tabasco to taste.
