Perfect for Valentine's Day meals! This is a cute heart-shaped sausage and egg that's easy to make with just two ingredients. It's perfect as a topping for various dishes like chicken rice, hamburg steaks, or toast, and also great for bento boxes. It looks festive and will brighten up your dining table.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (Makes 2 servings)
- Fish Sausage 1 stick
- Eggs 2
- Nori (optional)
- Cheese (optional)
Seasonings
- Vegetable Oil
- Water 1 tbsp
Steps
- Separate 2 eggs into yolks and whites.
- Peel the film from one end of 1 fish sausage stick.
- Cut the fish sausage in half lengthwise.
- Cut off the corners of the halved fish sausage at a 45-degree angle.
- Make a cut in the center, leaving about 1 cm from the edge.
- Join the two ends of the cut fish sausage to form a heart shape.
- Secure with a toothpick to shape it into a heart. [This is the trick!] Fish sausage is flexible, so you can shape it beautifully without it breaking.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Place the heart-shaped fish sausage in the frying pan.
- Gently press down on the fish sausage and pour the separated egg whites into the center.
- Once the bottom of the egg white starts to set, add the egg yolk in the center.
- Add 1 tbsp water around the edges of the pan, cover, and steam until cooked to your desired doneness.
- Once set, transfer to a plate.
- Remove the toothpick.
- Trim any excess white and serve.
- Optionally, create a face with nori or cheese and decorate on top of the egg yolk.
