An easy appetizer recipe made with white cheese and shirasu from Costco, along with shimeji mushrooms. Simply bake in a toaster oven for a dish where the melty cheese and umami of shirasu perfectly blend, making you want to reach for a drink. It's quick to make and perfect when you need an extra dish on the table.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (1-2 servings)
- Shimeji mushrooms 50g
- White cheese 2 portions (approx. 50g)
- Shirasu (small dried sardines) 20g
Seasonings
- Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 1 tsp
- Olive Oil 1 tsp
- Soy Sauce 1/2 tsp
- Dried Parsley to sprinkle lightly
Steps
- Cut off the tough ends of the Shimeji mushrooms (50g).
- Place the separated Shimeji mushrooms in a heatproof dish and drizzle with Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) (1 tsp).
- Cover with plastic wrap and microwave at 600W for 1 minute 15 seconds to cook the mushrooms.
- Cut the White cheese (2 portions, approx. 50g) into bite-sized pieces.
- Add the cut White cheese to the heatproof dish with the microwaved shimeji mushrooms.
- Bake in a toaster oven for about 5 minutes until the cheese is lightly browned.
- Sprinkle the Shirasu (20g) evenly over the browned cheese.
- Drizzle with Olive Oil (1 tsp) and Soy Sauce (1/2 tsp).
- Bake again in the toaster oven until the surface is lightly browned.
- Once baked, lightly sprinkle with Dried Parsley.
