A chef-designed Gyudon-style donburi using Meiji Hokkaido Tokachi Fresh Mozzarella. A new sensation of deliciousness with a perfect blend of sweet and savory beef, melting mozzarella, and fluffy eggs. This is a home-style recipe that's easy to make.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Beef (round steak)
- Onion
- Eggs
- Mozzarella
- Rice
- Olive Oil
- Beef (round steak) (to taste)
Seasonings
- [A] Sugar
- [A] Soy Sauce
Steps
- Remove the core from the onion, slice thinly, and separate the slices.
- Pat dry the mozzarella and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Heat a frying pan.
- Add olive oil (to taste) to the heated frying pan and stir-fry beef (round steak) (to taste).
- Add sugar (to taste) to the beef, stir-fry until slightly browned, then add soy sauce (to taste). The caramelization from the sugar adds a wonderful aroma.
- Remove the stir-fried beef. Add onion and a small amount of water to the frying pan, and stir-fry until the onion is softened.
- Once the onion is softened, return the reserved beef to the frying pan.
- Lightly beat the eggs.
- Sprinkle the cut mozzarella over the stir-fried beef and onion. Drizzle the beaten eggs over everything. Cover with a lid and let it cook gently with the residual heat until the mozzarella and eggs are cooked through. Cooking the eggs and mozzarella slowly with residual heat results in a wonderfully creamy texture.
- Serve warm rice in bowls.
- Top the rice with the prepared ingredients to complete the dish.
