Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Onion 1/4 (60g)
- Wieners 2 pcs
- Potatoes 3 pcs (300g)
- Water 2 tbsp
- Potato Starch 1 tbsp
Seasonings
- Granulated Consomme 1 tsp
- Coarsely Ground Black Pepper (to taste)
Steps
- Peel and thinly slice 1/4 onion (60g).
- Cut 2 wieners into 4 equal lengths and then into thin strips.
- Place the sliced onion and wieners in a microwave-safe container.
- Cover with plastic wrap and microwave at 600W for 1 minute 30 seconds.
- Peel 3 potatoes (300g) and remove any eyes.
- Cut the potatoes into roughly 8 equal pieces and place them in a separate microwave-safe container.
- Cover with plastic wrap and microwave at 600W for 5 minutes.
- Mash the microwaved potatoes with a fork or masher.
- Add 2 tbsp water, 1 tbsp potato starch, 1 tsp granulated consomme, and coarsely ground black pepper (to taste) to the mashed potatoes and mix well.
- Add the microwaved onion and wieners to the mixed potato mixture and stir until evenly distributed.
- Take portions of the mixture in your hands, form them into flat circles. The trick here is to gently squeeze to combine the ingredients, then roll into a ball shape, and press flat with your palm to make them easier to handle.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and place the shaped German potatoes in the pan.
- Cook until one side is browned.
- Flip and cook the other side until browned.
- Once both sides are browned, remove to a plate.
