Mash potatoes and combine them with German potato ingredients for a hearty dish. Surprisingly delicious and perfect as a snack or side dish. Enjoy these crispy, fragrant German potatoes that are easy to make with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Onion 1/4 (60g)
  • Wieners 2 pcs
  • Potatoes 3 pcs (300g)
  • Water 2 tbsp
  • Potato Starch 1 tbsp

Seasonings

  • Granulated Consomme 1 tsp
  • Coarsely Ground Black Pepper (to taste)

Steps

  1. Peel and thinly slice 1/4 onion (60g).
  2. Cut 2 wieners into 4 equal lengths and then into thin strips.
  3. Place the sliced onion and wieners in a microwave-safe container.
  4. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave at 600W for 1 minute 30 seconds.
  5. Peel 3 potatoes (300g) and remove any eyes.
  6. Cut the potatoes into roughly 8 equal pieces and place them in a separate microwave-safe container.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave at 600W for 5 minutes.
  8. Mash the microwaved potatoes with a fork or masher.
  9. Add 2 tbsp water, 1 tbsp potato starch, 1 tsp granulated consomme, and coarsely ground black pepper (to taste) to the mashed potatoes and mix well.
  10. Add the microwaved onion and wieners to the mixed potato mixture and stir until evenly distributed.
  11. Take portions of the mixture in your hands, form them into flat circles. The trick here is to gently squeeze to combine the ingredients, then roll into a ball shape, and press flat with your palm to make them easier to handle.
  12. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and place the shaped German potatoes in the pan.
  13. Cook until one side is browned.
  14. Flip and cook the other side until browned.
  15. Once both sides are browned, remove to a plate.
