Ryuji-san's 'Desperate Fried Rice Bento' can be made entirely in the microwave without using a stovetop. It's a super time-saving recipe that can be quickly prepared even on busy mornings. We'll introduce two types: the basic fried rice and an arranged version with ham and lettuce, all in easy steps.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Rice 200g (x2)
  • Egg 1 (x2)
  • Ham 35g
  • Lettuce 1 leaf

Seasonings

  • [A] Oil 1/2 tbsp (x2)
  • [A] Sesame oil 1 and 1/2 tsp (x2)
  • [B] Salt 1/3 tsp (x2)
  • [B] Soy sauce 1/2 tsp (x2)
  • [B] MSG(Ajinomoto) (MSG) 7 shakes (x2)
  • [B] Ground black pepper 5 shakes (x2)
  • [C] Five-spice powder 1 shake

Steps

  1. Tear 35g ham by hand and set aside.
  2. [Desperate Fried Rice] In a heat-resistant container, add 1 egg, 1/2 tbsp oil, and 1 and 1/2 tsp sesame oil, then mix lightly.
  3. Add warm 200g rice, 1/3 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp soy sauce, 7 shakes MSG(Ajinomoto) (MSG), and 5 shakes ground black pepper. Place in the microwave without mixing, to enjoy the texture of the ingredients.
  4. Place the lid loosely on top and heat in a 600W microwave for 2 minutes.
  5. After heating, mix everything well. The 'Desperate Fried Rice' is now complete.
  6. [Desperate Lettuce Fried Rice] In a separate heat-resistant container, add 1 egg, 1/2 tbsp oil, and 1 and 1/2 tsp sesame oil, then mix lightly.
  7. Add warm 200g rice, torn 35g ham, 1/3 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp soy sauce, 7 shakes MSG(Ajinomoto) (MSG), 5 shakes ground black pepper, and 1 shake five-spice powder. Place in the microwave without mixing.
  8. Place the lid loosely on top and heat in a 600W microwave for 2 minutes.
  9. After heating, add 1 torn lettuce leaf and mix everything, letting the residual heat cook it. [Expert Tip!] Adding the lettuce after heating preserves its crisp texture and cooks it with residual heat.
  10. Let it cool slightly, then pack into a bento box.
