Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Bean Sprouts 1 bag
  • Carrot 100g
  • Canned Tuna 1 can

Seasonings

  • [A] Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine) 2 tsp
  • [A] Sugar 1 tsp
  • [B] Soy Sauce 1.5 tbsp
  • [B] Sesame Oil 1 tbsp
  • [B] Grated Garlic 1 tsp
  • [B] Toasted Sesame Seeds 2 tbsp
  • Salt (to taste)

Steps

  1. Peel and thinly slice 100g of carrot lengthwise into 1-2mm strips.
  2. Cut off the root ends of 1 bag of bean sprouts. (Tip: The roots can be regrown by soaking them in water.)
  3. Cut the bean sprouts in half.
  4. Place the thinly sliced carrots in a microwave-safe container, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave at 600W for 1 minute.
  5. Place the bean sprouts on top of the microwaved carrots, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave at 600W for another 1 minute.
  6. Drain the microwaved carrots and bean sprouts in a colander, ensuring all water is removed.
  7. In the container, combine 2 tsp of Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine) and 1 tsp of sugar. Microwave at 600W for about 20 seconds to evaporate the alcohol and dissolve the sugar.
  8. To the microwaved seasonings, add 1.5 tbsp of Soy Sauce, 1 tbsp of Sesame Oil, 1 tsp of Grated Garlic, 2 tbsp of Toasted Sesame Seeds, and 1 can of drained Canned Tuna. Mix everything well.
  9. Add the drained bean sprouts and carrots and mix to combine.
  10. Season with a pinch of salt to taste.
  11. Once seasoned, refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
