Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • 2 medium onions
  • 1/2 carrot (100g)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 6 chicken drumsticks

Seasonings

  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Cooking Sake (Rice Wine)
  • 2 tsp Granulated Consommé

Steps

  1. Trim 5mm to 1cm off the top and bottom of 2 medium onions and peel.
  2. Make a cross-shaped cut into the core at the base of the onions.
  3. Place the onions, cut side down, into the rice cooker pot.
  4. Season 6 chicken drumsticks with salt (to taste), pepper (to taste), and 1 tbsp Cooking Sake (Rice Wine), then massage it in.
  5. Place the seasoned chicken drumsticks into the rice cooker pot in the available space.
  6. Peel 1/2 carrot (100g) and cut it into quarters lengthwise.
  7. Add the cut carrots to the rice cooker pot in the available space.
  8. Peel 1 clove garlic, smash it with the side of a knife, and add it to the rice cooker pot.
  9. Pour water into the rice cooker pot with the ingredients until it reaches the 3-cup cooking line.
  10. Add 2 tsp Granulated Consommé.
  11. Close the lid and set the rice cooker to the regular white rice cooking mode.
  12. Once cooking is complete, transfer to bowls. (Key Tip!) The onions will become incredibly melt-in-your-mouth tender.
  13. If desired, skim off any scum from the soup.
