For just 80 yen per serving, create a budget-friendly, time-saving frozen curry udon that's perfect for busy days or a fresh start. A convenient and delicious meal!
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (1 serving)
- Boiled Udon Noodles 1 ball (180g)
- Green Onion 5cm
- Chopped Fried Tofu Pouch 10g (approx. 1/2 pouch)
- Pork Belly Slices 30g
- Curry Roux 1 cube (20g)
Seasonings
- Dashi Powder 1/2 tsp
Steps
- Thinly slice the green onion (5cm) diagonally.
- Remove the boiled udon noodles (1 ball, 180g) from the package, rinse with water, loosen them, and drain in a colander.
- Place the rinsed and drained udon noodles into a freezer-safe container. (Key Tip!) If they don't fit directly from the bag, rinsing and loosening them will help. If you have a larger container, you can place them in as is.
- Arrange the sliced green onion and chopped fried tofu pouch (10g, approx. 1/2 pouch) over the udon.
- Tear the pork belly slices (30g) into bite-sized pieces and spread them over the other ingredients.
- Finely chop the curry roux (1 cube, 20g) into about 9 small pieces and sprinkle over the ingredients. (Key Tip!) Chopping it finely makes it easier to melt and prevents lumps.
- Sprinkle the dashi powder (1/2 tsp) over the ingredients.
- Cover with a lid and store in the freezer. Consume within 3 weeks. (Key Tip!) If making multiple portions, repeat the same steps for efficiency.
- (When Cooking) If heating directly in the container, use a deep container and choose one that is okay to be stained or have odors transferred to it. You can also wrap it in plastic wrap and store it in a freezer bag.
- Transfer the frozen curry udon to a heatproof bowl and add 200ml of water.
- Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on 600W for 5 minutes.
- After heating, stir everything to dissolve the curry roux. (Key Tip!) Placing the pork at the bottom helps it cook through.
- Loosely cover with plastic wrap and microwave on 600W for about 2.5 minutes. (Be careful of boiling over)
- Stir thoroughly and check if the pork is cooked through. If it's not cooked enough, heat for additional time. (Key Tip!) Stirring will naturally thicken the sauce.
- (If Cooking in a Pot) Add the frozen curry udon and 200ml of boiling water to a pot and cook for 3-5 minutes until heated through.
