Ingredients
Main Ingredients (4-6 servings)
- Ground Beef and Pork Mix 300g
- Onion 1 (200g)
- Carrot 1/2 (100g)
- Garlic 1 clove
- Cake Flour 1/2 tbsp
- Canned Diced Tomatoes 1 can
Seasonings
- Vegetable Oil 2 tsp
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
- Water 100ml
- [A] Ketchup 2 tbsp
- [A] Worcestershire Sauce 1 tbsp
- [A] Sugar 1 tbsp
- [A] Miso Paste 1 tbsp
- [A] Granulated Consomme 2 tsp
Steps
- Peel and finely chop 1 Onion (200g).
- Peel and finely chop 1/2 Carrot (100g).
- Peel and finely chop 1 clove Garlic.
- Heat 2 tsp Vegetable Oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the pan and oil are hot, add the chopped vegetables (onion, carrot, garlic) and sauté until tender.
- Push the sautéed vegetables to one side of the pan, and add 300g Ground Beef and Pork Mix to the empty space. Cook until browned.
- Once the ground meat has changed color and is cooked through, mix it with the vegetables.
- After mixing the vegetables and ground meat, turn off the heat and stir in 1/2 tbsp Cake Flour.
- Lightly season with Salt and Pepper (to taste).
- Add 1 can Canned Diced Tomatoes, 100ml Water, 2 tbsp Ketchup, 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce, and 1 tbsp Sugar.
- For a hidden flavor boost, add 1 tbsp Miso Paste and 2 tsp Granulated Consomme. Stir everything together and bring to a simmer. (Key Tip!) Adding miso paste to the meat sauce creates a richer, deeper flavor.
- Stir everything together and bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and simmer for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Cook until the liquid has reduced, the sauce has thickened, and you can draw a line with your spatula. Then, turn off the heat.
- Let it cool down.
- Once cooled, transfer to a freezer bag, remove excess air, seal the bag, and freeze for up to 1 month. (Key Tip!) If you plan to eat it soon, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 5 days.
- To serve, break apart by hand or cut into desired portions with a knife, then microwave to reheat and defrost.
- Serve over boiled pasta for meat sauce pasta.
- Top rolls or sliced bread with the meat sauce and cheese, then toast in a toaster.
- Serve over rice with cheese and bake for a doria-style dish, or layer with boiled potatoes, top with cheese, and bake for a potato gratin. These are just some of the ways you can enjoy this versatile sauce!
