No special tools or molds needed! These chocolate chunk scones are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and can be easily made using just a toaster. The pancake mix makes it simple to enjoy an authentic taste. This is a great recipe to make with kids!
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (Makes 8 scones)
- Pancake Mix 200g
- Butter 40g
- Milk 4 tbsp
- Chocolate Bar 60g
Seasonings
Steps
- Melt 40g of butter in the microwave.
- Place 200g of pancake mix into a large bowl.
- Add the melted butter all at once and mix briefly until crumbly.
- Add 2 tbsp of milk and mix.
- Gradually add more milk bit by bit while checking consistency until you have a smooth, cohesive dough. **Key Tip:** Adjust the amount of milk depending on the type of pancake mix you use.
- Break the 60g chocolate bar into small pieces and add them to the dough. Mix well to distribute evenly. **Key Tip:** Adding nuts or other additions can also make them delicious!
- Spread out a sheet of plastic wrap on a cutting board and place the scone dough on top.
- Wrap the dough in the plastic wrap and shape it by hand into a square approximately 2cm high and 10cm wide. **Key Tip:** You can shape them into rounds or use cookie cutters for your preferred shape.
- Remove the plastic wrap and place the dough with the nice side facing up. Cut diagonally, then cut in half to make approximately 8 portions. **Key Tip:** Cutting them smaller will result in a crispier scone and a shorter baking time.
- Line the toaster tray with aluminum foil and arrange the cut scone pieces.
- Cover the scones with another piece of aluminum foil and bake in the toaster. **Key Tip:** If your toaster doesn't have a temperature setting, bake them as is.
- Remove the aluminum foil from the top of the scones and bake in the toaster again until golden brown.
- Once golden brown, they are ready to serve!
