No meat, yet you won't be able to stop eating rice! This is the 'Devil's Bell Pepper Rice Bowl,' devised by culinary researcher Ryuji. It's an easy and incredibly delicious bowl that can be made with just a microwave and frying pan, even overcoming bell pepper haters. The special miso sauce and egg yolk intertwine perfectly, making it undoubtedly addictive! You must try it.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (1 serving)
- Bell Peppers 3 (100g)
- Cooked Rice 200g
- Egg 1
- Butter 10g
Seasonings
- [A] Miso 1/2 tbsp
- [A] Soy Sauce 1/2 tbsp
- [A] Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine) 1 tbsp
- [A] MSG 4 dashes
- Black Pepper to taste
- Tabasco to taste (for flavor change)
Steps
- Cut 3 bell peppers into about 8 pieces each. Do not remove the seeds. [Pro Tip!] Frying the seeds enhances their sweetness, making them delicious to eat.
- Place the cut bell peppers into a bowl.
- Wrap the bell peppers and microwave for 2 minutes 30 seconds to 3 minutes (if there's a larger amount, 2 minutes 50 seconds). [Pro Tip!] Pre-heating in the microwave removes the bitterness from the bell peppers and brings out their sweetness.
- Add 10g butter to a frying pan and melt it.
- Lightly drain the microwaved bell peppers and add them to the frying pan. Cook over medium-high heat, skin-side down first, until browned.
- Add [A] Miso 1/2 tbsp, [A] Soy Sauce 1/2 tbsp, [A] Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine) 1 tbsp, and [A] MSG 4 dashes to the bell peppers and simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Finish by sprinkling with black pepper to taste.
- Serve 200g of warm cooked rice in a bowl.
- Add only the egg white from 1 egg to the rice, mix lightly, and microwave for 40 seconds. [Pro Tip!] Mixing egg white into the rice and heating it creates protein-rich rice and utilizes leftover egg white without waste.
- Arrange the stir-fried bell peppers on top of the egg white rice, place the reserved egg yolk in the center, and it's complete.
- Drizzle with Tabasco to taste, if desired.
