Crispy and ready in just 15 minutes using a frying pan and toaster! Experience the perfect harmony of sweet potato's natural sweetness and the salty kick of bacon, all encased in a wonderfully crispy gyoza wrapper. This sweet and savory delight is addictive and perfect as a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Sweet Potato 100g
- Block Bacon 30g
- Gyoza Wrappers about 15
- Mixed Cheese 40g
Seasonings
- [A] Mayonnaise 1 tbsp
- [A] Grainy Mustard 1 tsp
- Honey
- Black Sesame Seeds (to taste)
- Oil (thin layer)
Steps
- Slice the 100g sweet potato into approx. 3mm thick wedges.
- Briefly rinse the sliced sweet potato under water, place in a heatproof container, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave at 600W for 2 minutes.
- Finely slice the 30g block bacon into approx. 3mm wide strips.
- Lightly grease a frying pan with oil.
- Place one gyoza wrapper in the center of the pan and arrange them in a circular pattern, overlapping the edges. Continue to layer the wrappers, overlapping them and filling any gaps, creating a double layer between each wrapper.
- In a separate small bowl, mix together 1 tbsp mayonnaise and 1 tsp grainy mustard, then spread evenly over the gyoza wrappers.
- Arrange the microwaved sweet potato slices on top of the gyoza wrapper base.
- Scatter the sliced block bacon over the sweet potato.
- Sprinkle the 40g mixed cheese evenly over the top.
- Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.
- Once the bottom is browned and the base starts to move, carefully transfer it onto aluminum foil.
- Toast in a toaster or under a broiler until the surface is golden brown. (Key Tip!) If the edges of the gyoza wrappers start to burn, cover with aluminum foil partway through.
- After toasting, drizzle honey all over. (Key Tip!) If you don't prefer sweet flavors or are making this for young children, it's delicious without the honey too.
- Sprinkle with black sesame seeds (to taste) and serve.
