These incredibly delicious, budget-friendly, and filling pan-fried pork and onion patties are a breeze to make! Simply mix and pan-fry for a dish packed with flavor. Juicy thinly sliced pork and plenty of onions are cooked to perfection with a consommé seasoning. They're like mini Western-style hamburgers, perfect for bento boxes or as a snack.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Onion 1 small (approx. 150g)
- Thinly sliced pork 200g
Seasonings
- Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 1 tbsp
- Potato Starch 2 tbsp
- Granulated Consommé 1 tsp
- Grated Garlic 1 tsp
- Black Pepper (to taste)
- Olive Oil
Steps
- Finely chop 1 small onion (approx. 150g).
- Place the chopped onion in a microwave-safe bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and heat in a 600W microwave for 1 minute.
- Let the microwaved onion cool down.
- Finely chop 200g of thinly sliced pork.
- Place the chopped pork in a separate bowl.
- Add 1 tbsp Cooking Sake (Rice Wine), 2 tbsp Potato Starch, 1 tsp Granulated Consommé, 1 tsp Grated Garlic, and a pinch of Black Pepper to the bowl with the pork. Mix well by hand. (Key Tip! Kneading the seasoning and potato starch into the pork makes it tender and juicy.)
- Add the cooled chopped onion to the pork mixture and knead everything together until well combined. (Key Tip! Lightly microwaving the onion beforehand ensures it's cooked through and removes any harshness, making it more delicious.)
- Heat Olive Oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Using two spoons, scoop out portions of the mixture, shape them into small balls, then flatten them into round patties and place them in the pan.
- Cook until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.
- Flip the patties over.
- Cover the pan and steam-fry over low to medium heat for 2 minutes.
- Once cooked through and the other side is also browned, transfer to a plate.
