Easily made with just one egg and a few seasonings, "Effortless Chawanmushi" is a delightful dish with a silky-smooth texture, perfect for soothing a hangover or a tired body. Since it's completed entirely in the microwave, it's ideal for busy days or when you're not feeling well. Adding chili oil for a flavor change is also recommended.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (1 serving)
- Egg 1
Seasonings
- [A] Water 150cc
- [A] Kore! Uma!! Tsuyu 1 tbsp
- [A] Salt 1 pinch
- [A] Sugar 1 pinch
Steps
- Crack 1 egg into a bowl and beat well with chopsticks or a whisk until thoroughly mixed. [Tip] Mixing until no white parts remain will result in a beautiful finish.
- To the beaten egg, add Kore! Uma!! Tsuyu 1 tbsp, 1 pinch of salt, and 1 pinch of sugar, and mix well. [Tip] If you don't have "Kore! Uma!! Tsuyu", you can substitute with dashi and a little mentsuyu.
- Add 150cc of water to the egg mixture and mix well.
- Without covering with plastic wrap, heat in a 600W microwave for 1 minute 40 seconds.
- Afterward, heat in a 200W microwave for 1 minute 40 seconds. [Tip] If you don't have a 200W setting, repeat heating for 10 to 20 seconds, 3-4 times, checking the consistency to achieve a wobbly texture. Be careful not to overheat at 600W, as it can cause the mixture to separate and result in a texture like an omelet.
- Once set, it's done. Drizzle with chili oil if desired.
