Ingredients

Main Ingredients (6 servings)

  • 1 Apple (approx. 350g)
  • 4 sheets Frozen Puff Pastry
  • 10g Unsalted Butter
  • 1 Egg Yolk

Seasonings

  • 2.5 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • Cinnamon Powder (to taste)
  • 1 tsp Water

Steps

  1. Core and peel 1 Fuji apple (approx. 350g), then cut into 4 wedges.
  2. Slice the peeled apple halves into 1cm thick pieces.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the sliced apples, 2.5 tbsp Granulated Sugar, 1/2 tbsp Lemon Juice, and finely chopped 10g Unsalted Butter. Mix well.
  4. Microwave on 600W for 3 minutes without covering.
  5. Remove from the microwave and mix thoroughly.
  6. Microwave again on 600W for 5 minutes without covering.
  7. If there's excess liquid after microwaving, heat for an additional 1 minute on 600W to evaporate the moisture. Adjust heating time based on the apple variety and condition, as it may vary.
  8. Add Cinnamon Powder (to taste) and mix well.
  9. Cover the filling tightly with plastic wrap to prevent drying and let it cool completely.
  10. In a bowl, whisk together 1 Egg Yolk and 1 tsp Water to make an egg wash. If using whole egg, water is not necessary.
  11. Cut 1 sheet of Frozen Puff Pastry into 3 equal pieces. It should be firm enough to cut with the tip of a knife. Be careful not to let it become too soft, as it will be difficult to work with.
  12. On the puff pastry pieces that will be the top crust, make 5 slits in the center, leaving a 1cm border from the edges. Process the remaining puff pastry pieces similarly.
  13. Lay plastic wrap on a cutting board and place a puff pastry piece without slits on it. This prevents the frozen puff pastry from sticking to the cutting board.
  14. Spread the cooled apple filling on the base puff pastry, leaving a 1cm border.
  15. Brush the edges with the egg wash, then place the slit puff pastry on top. Press the edges firmly with your fingers.
  16. Use a fork to press down on the edges, sealing the top and bottom puff pastry together.
  17. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the formed apple pies on it.
  18. Brush the surface of the apple pies with the egg wash.
  19. Bake in a preheated oven at 200℃ (390°F) for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown. Adjust baking time based on your oven, as the browning may vary. Ensure at least 20 minutes of baking time.
  20. Let cool slightly after baking.
