These "Crispy Pork & Carrot Patties" are made with carrots and thinly sliced pork, and they're as simple as mixing and frying. Made with budget-friendly ingredients, they're incredibly juicy and satisfying. Perfect for bento boxes or as a snack, this dish will be a hit with the whole family.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Carrot 1/2 medium (approx. 100g)
- Thinly sliced pork 200g
- Potato Starch 2 tbsp
- Egg 1
Seasonings
- Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 1 tbsp
- Granulated Consommé 1/2 tsp
- Grated Garlic 1 tsp
Steps
- Peel and julienne the carrot (approx. 100g) into thin 2mm strips.
- Place the julienned carrots in a microwave-safe bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and heat for 1 minute 30 seconds on 600W.
- Let the heated carrots cool down and then thoroughly squeeze out any excess water. This is key to preventing a sticky batter and ensuring it holds its shape.
- Finely chop the thinly sliced pork (200g) into 1cm pieces. Finely chopping the pork creates a juicy, hamburger-like texture and helps it bind well with the carrots.
- In a bowl, add the chopped pork, Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 1 tbsp, Granulated Consommé 1/2 tsp, Grated Garlic 1 tsp, Potato Starch 2 tbsp, and Egg 1. Mix well by kneading.
- Add the squeezed carrots to the bowl and mix thoroughly until everything is evenly combined.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the pan is hot, shape the mixture into bite-sized, flat rounds and place them in the pan.
- Cook until golden brown on one side.
- Flip the patties, cover with a lid, and steam-fry over low to medium heat for 2 minutes 30 seconds.
- Serve on a plate. Enjoy!
