A warm and comforting green onion and ground pork miso doria, perfect for cold days and made with plenty of green onions. The combination of ground pork and miso-based white sauce is fantastic with rice. It's easy to make in just one pan, and while green onions are the star, it's a filling dish.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Green Onions 2 stalks (200g)
- Ground Pork 100g
- Rice Flour 1 tbsp
- Milk 200ml
- Cooked Rice 2 bowls
- Mixed Cheese 30g
- Breadcrumbs (as needed)
Seasonings
- Butter 10g
- Grated Garlic 1 tsp
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
- [A] Sugar 1 tsp
- [A] Miso 1 tbsp
- Mayonnaise (as needed)
Steps
- Slice the 2 green onions (200g) diagonally into large rounds.
- Melt 10g of butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the butter has melted, add 100g of ground pork and 1 tsp of grated garlic and stir-fry.
- Once the ground pork is cooked through, add the sliced green onions and salt and pepper to taste, and mix everything together.
- Mix everything, then cover with a lid and steam for 2.5 minutes.
- When the green onions have softened, add 1 tbsp of rice flour and mix to combine.
- Add 200ml of milk and heat until thickened. If the mixture is too thick due to the moisture content of the green onions, adjust with water or more milk.
- Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in 1 tsp of sugar and 1 tbsp of miso until dissolved. This completes the green onion and ground pork miso white sauce.
- In a gratin dish, add 1 bowl of cooked rice and top with half of the green onion and ground pork miso white sauce.
- Sprinkle 15g of mixed cheese over the white sauce.
- Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and drizzle with mayonnaise. (Key Tip!) The mayonnaise will melt and soak into the breadcrumbs, creating a crispy texture.
- Bake the gratin dish in a broiler, toaster oven, or oven until golden brown.
