Ingredients

Main Ingredients (Makes 6 croffles)

  • Sliced Bread (8-slice thickness) 3 slices
  • Puff Pastry Sheet 1.5 sheets
  • Bacon (optional)

Seasonings

  • Sugar (to taste)
  • Honey (to taste)
  • Syrup (to taste)
  • Ketchup (to taste)
  • Mayonnaise (to taste)

Steps

  1. Trim the crusts off the sliced bread.
  2. Roll the sliced bread with a rolling pin or chopstick to flatten it.
  3. Let the puff pastry sheet soften at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Cut the puff pastry sheet in half to match the size of the bread.
  5. Place the cut puff pastry sheet on top of the sliced bread.
  6. Using a knife, make diagonal cuts about 1 centimeter from the edge of the bread and pastry, dividing them in half.
  7. Place the puff pastry side down on a flat surface and roll it up tightly from the edge. (Key Tip!) Rolling it like making a croissant will result in a crispy texture.
  8. Place the rolled dough seam-side down in a waffle maker and press to cook.
  9. Remove once both sides are golden brown.
  10. (Variation) Sprinkle sugar on the sliced bread before rolling.
  11. (Variation) Place bacon on the sliced bread, then top with the puff pastry, make diagonal cuts, cut in half, and then roll.
