This is a recipe for Steamed Bun-style toast that can be easily made with bread. Just sauté thinly sliced pork and vegetables with Chinese seasoning, place it on bread, and bake. You'll enjoy the crispy outside and juicy inside, just like a Nikuman. It's perfect for breakfast or a snack.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Thinly sliced pork 100g
- Onion 50g
- Ginger 10g
- Bamboo shoot 50g
- 6-slice bread
Seasonings
- Oil 1 tbsp
- Soy sauce 2 tsp
- Chinese seasoning 1 tsp
- Sugar 1 tsp
- Potato starch 1 tsp
- Water 100cc
- Black pepper to taste
- Sesame oil 1 drizzle
- Scallions to taste
Steps
- Finely chop 100g thinly sliced pork, 50g onion, 10g ginger, and 50g bamboo shoot.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a frying pan and sauté the chopped thinly sliced pork.
- Once the pork changes color, add the chopped onion, ginger, and bamboo shoot and sauté further.
- Once everything is sautéed, add 2 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp Chinese seasoning, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp potato starch, and 100cc water, then mix.
- Bring to a boil and simmer until thickened. [Here's the trick!] By simmering until well thickened, the filling won't be watery when placed on the bread, ensuring a delicious result.
- Turn off the heat, add black pepper to taste and 1 drizzle sesame oil, mix, and let the filling cool.
- Place the cooled Nikuman filling on top of the 6-slice bread.
- Toast in a toaster until golden brown.
- Arrange on a plate and sprinkle with scallions to taste, if desired.
