Ready in just 15 minutes by simply arranging and cooking in a frying pan! This exquisite recipe features the irresistible crispy texture created by asparagus, bacon, and gyoza wrappers. The yuzu pepper and mayonnaise seasoning makes it a perfect light snack, like a crispy pizza. It's simple yet packed with condensed flavor.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Asparagus 1 bunch (100g)
  • Half-cut Bacon 2 slices
  • Mini Tomatoes 2
  • Mixed Cheese 40g
  • Gyoza Wrappers 15-20 sheets

Seasonings

  • [A] Olive Oil 2 tsp
  • [A] Yuzu Pepper 1/2 tsp
  • Olive Oil (thin layer)
  • Mayonnaise (to taste)
  • Coarsely Ground Black Pepper (optional)

Steps

  1. Trim the ends of the asparagus and peel the tough outer layer from the stalks.
  2. Cut the peeled asparagus diagonally into 3cm pieces.
  3. Place the cut asparagus in a microwave-safe dish, cover with plastic wrap, and heat in a 600W microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds.
  4. Drain the heated asparagus thoroughly in a colander.
  5. Cut the 2 slices of half-cut bacon into thin 1cm wide strips.
  6. Remove the stems from the 2 mini tomatoes and finely chop each into 8 pieces.
  7. In a bowl, mix 2 tsp olive oil with 1/2 tsp yuzu pepper.
  8. Add the drained asparagus and the cut half-cut bacon, and mix well.
  9. Lightly grease a frying pan with olive oil.
  10. Arrange the gyoza wrappers in the frying pan to form a circle of about 20-22cm, overlapping the edges.
  11. Overlap more gyoza wrappers on the overlapped sections to completely fill any gaps.
  12. Spread mayonnaise evenly over the entire surface of the arranged gyoza wrappers.
  13. Scatter the mixed asparagus and half-cut bacon evenly over the top.
  14. Scatter the chopped mini tomatoes over the entire surface.
  15. Sprinkle 40g of mixed cheese evenly over the top.
  16. Drizzle with mayonnaise and sprinkle with coarsely ground black pepper, if desired.
  17. Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  18. After 5 minutes of cooking, when the bottom is browned and the base slides easily, carefully slide the "pizza" from the frying pan onto a sheet of aluminum foil.
  19. While still on the aluminum foil, bake in a toaster or under a broiler until the surface is golden brown. (This is the key!) If the edges of the gyoza wrappers start to burn, cover them with aluminum foil during baking.
  20. Once a nice golden brown color is achieved, carefully remove from the heat (watch out for burns) and transfer to a plate.
  21. Cut into bite-sized pieces and serve.
