A recipe for fun, bite-sized French toast that everyone can enjoy making together using a takoyaki pan. Finely chopped bread soaked in egg mixture and then heated in the microwave creates a fluffy and creamy texture. This is a perfect treat for snacks or for enjoying time at home.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings (18 pieces))
- Bread 2 slices
- Eggs 2
- Milk 200ml
Seasonings
- [A] Sugar 2 tbsp
- [A] Vanilla Extract 2-3 drops
Steps
- Crack 2 eggs into a bowl and whisk them.
- Add 200ml milk, 2 tbsp sugar, and 2-3 drops of vanilla extract to the whisked eggs and mix to create the egg mixture.
- Trim the crusts off 2 slices of bread.
- Finely chop the bread into approximately 3mm cubes.
- Place the chopped bread into the egg mixture.
- Cut the removed bread crusts in half lengthwise and finely chop them into approximately 3mm width.
- Mix the bread and crust pieces soaked in the egg mixture thoroughly.
- Heat in the microwave (600W) for 30 seconds, then take it out and mix well. [This is the key!] Lightly heating helps the bread absorb the egg mixture fully.
- Heat again in the microwave (600W) for 20 seconds.
- Gently heat the takoyaki pan and brush it with oil.
- Scoop the bread soaked in the egg mixture with a spoon and place it into the takoyaki pan holes, adjusting as you go.
- Set the heat to low-medium if your pan has a heat adjustment function, or 130-150°C if it has temperature control, and cook slowly until browned without burning.
- Once the bottom is browned and firm, use a skewer to flip the mixture like making takoyaki.
- Once the surfaces are browned, it's done.
- Transfer to a plate.
- Serve with whipped cream or maple syrup as desired.
