Ingredients
Main Ingredients (1 cake (approx. 15cm diameter))
- 2 Eggs
- 70g Brown Sugar
- 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 3 tbsp Milk
- 100g Cake Flour
- 4g Baking Powder
Seasonings
- 1/2 tsp Soy Sauce
Steps
- Cut the opened milk carton sides into three 3cm wide strips.
- Join the cut milk carton strips with staples to form a 15cm diameter circle.
- Cut the remaining milk carton into a 17.5cm square.
- Place the circular mold in the center, fold the four corners inwards, and secure with staples.
- Line the inside with parchment paper to complete the milk carton mold.
- In a bowl, combine 2 eggs, 70g brown sugar, 2 tbsp vegetable oil, 3 tbsp milk, and 1/2 tsp soy sauce, then mix well.
- Sift in 100g cake flour and 4g baking powder, and gently mix until just combined without overmixing. [Key Tip!] Overmixing will result in a dense batter, so mix lightly to maintain a fluffy texture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared mold.
- In a deep frying pan or pot, place a base to keep the mold from floating, and then place the mold on top.
- Pour hot water around the edges until it just reaches the bottom of the mold.
- Cover with a lid wrapped in a kitchen towel, and steam over high heat for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Insert a bamboo skewer to check for doneness.
