Crispy fried tofu and meltingly soft green onions. Enjoy the contrast in textures in this sweet and savory stir-fry. Perfect with rice or drinks, this is a fantastic side dish that you can whip up quickly.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Fried Tofu Pouch 2 sheets
  • Green Onion 1 stalk

Seasonings

  • Vegetable Oil 1 tbsp
  • [A] Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine) 1 tbsp
  • [A] Soy Sauce 1 tbsp
  • Bonito Flakes (Katsuobushi) 1 pack (5g)

Steps

  1. Slice 1 stalk of Green Onion diagonally. The secret tip: The green parts can also be used after washing them thoroughly.
  2. Cut 2 sheets of Fried Tofu Pouch into 1cm wide strips. The secret tip: You can cut them to your preferred size.
  3. Heat 1 tbsp of Vegetable Oil in a frying pan, add the diagonally sliced Green Onion, and stir-fry until softened, thoroughly browning it. The secret tip: Browning the green onions enhances their aroma and sweetness.
  4. Push the green onions to one side of the pan, and add the cut Fried Tofu Pouch to the empty space to grill. The secret tip: Cook the green onions and tofu separately to bring out the sweetness of the onions and achieve a light, crispy texture for the tofu.
  5. Once the green onions are tender and the fried tofu is lightly browned and crispy, mix everything together and stir-fry briefly.
  6. Turn off the heat, and add 1 tbsp of Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine) and 1 tbsp of Soy Sauce to the hot pan. Quickly toss to coat everything. The secret tip: Adding the seasonings after turning off the heat prevents burning and maximizes the aroma.
  7. Finish by adding a generous amount of 1 pack (5g) of Bonito Flakes (Katsuobushi) and toss lightly. It's ready!
  8. Transfer to a serving dish.
