Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Zucchini (appropriate amount)
  • Eggplant (appropriate amount)
  • Fresh Mozzarella Cheese (appropriate amount)
  • Meat Sauce (appropriate amount)
  • Milk (appropriate amount)
  • Hard-boiled eggs (appropriate amount)
  • Parmesan Cheese (appropriate amount)
  • Butter

Seasonings

  • Olive Oil
  • Salt

Steps

  1. Remove the ends from the zucchini and cut in half.
  2. Slice the cut zucchini thinly.
  3. Add a small amount of olive oil to a frying pan and sauté the thinly sliced zucchini over high heat until lightly browned on the surface.
  4. Trim a small portion from the ends and bottom of the eggplant.
  5. Slice the eggplant thinly.
  6. Lightly sprinkle salt on the sautéing zucchini.
  7. Thin the meat sauce (store-bought is fine) with milk and warm it in the frying pan.
  8. Pat dry the fresh mozzarella cheese.
  9. Add a small amount of olive oil to a frying pan and sauté the thinly sliced eggplant. (Key Tip!) Using too much oil will make it heavy, so lightly grill it.
  10. Slice the mozzarella cheese into about 5 slices horizontally (or tear it).
  11. Thinly slice the hard-boiled eggs using a slicer (or a knife).
  12. Sprinkle salt evenly over the sautéing eggplant.
  13. Lightly grease a gratin dish with butter (optional).
  14. Place the sautéed eggplant and zucchini into the gratin dish randomly.
  15. Tear and place the mozzarella cheese on top.
  16. Spread the warmed meat sauce and arrange the hard-boiled eggs on top.
  17. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and add more mozzarella cheese.
  18. Layer with the sautéed vegetables (eggplant, zucchini, etc.) again, followed by meat sauce, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, and hard-boiled eggs. You can also add pre-cooked broccoli or cauliflower.
  19. Finally, dot the top with butter.
  20. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for approximately 8 to 10 minutes. (Key Tip!) Baking the mozzarella cheese in the oven not only makes it wonderfully gooey but also adds a milky, creamy flavor to the entire dish.
  21. Once baked, it's ready to serve. (Key Tip!) If the vegetables release a lot of moisture, pre-baking them in the oven beforehand can help reduce the water content.
