A super slimming tofu dish passed down from the Edo period. Happai Tofu is so delicious, it'll disappear in seconds just by simmering it. Easy to make with few ingredients, it's a highly recommended dish for those on a diet.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (2 servings)

  • Firm Tofu 350g

Seasonings

  • [A] Water 210ml
  • [A] Soy Sauce 35ml
  • [A] Sake 35ml
  • [A] MSG(Ajinomoto) (MSG) 7 shakes
  • [A] Bonito Powder 3g
  • Grated Daikon Radish to taste
  • Green Onions to taste
  • Shichimi Togarashi (Japanese Seven Spice Blend) to taste

Steps

  1. Peel the daikon radish skin with a peeler.
  2. Drain excess water from the 350g firm tofu beforehand.
  3. Add 210ml water, 35ml soy sauce, 35ml sake, 7 shakes of MSG(Ajinomoto) (MSG), and 3g bonito powder to a pot and bring to a boil.
  4. Add the 350g firm tofu to the boiling pot and simmer until it's just covered by the liquid.
  5. Grate the daikon radish.
  6. Finely chop the green onions.
  7. Serve the simmered tofu in a bowl, garnished with grated daikon radish, green onions, and Shichimi Togarashi (Japanese Seven Spice Blend).
