They're also perfect for lunchboxes. The zingy flavor of pickled ginger is appetite-stimulating, and the thinly sliced pork becomes juicy. Give it a try!
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Thinly sliced pork belly 200g
- All-purpose flour 2 tsp
- Pickled ginger 30g
- All-purpose flour 1-2 tbsp
- Egg 1
Seasonings
- Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 2 tsp
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
Steps
- Finely chop the 200g of thinly sliced pork belly into 1cm pieces.
- Massage 2 tsp Cooking Sake (Rice Wine), a pinch of salt, and a pinch of pepper into the chopped pork.
- Next, incorporate 2 tsp all-purpose flour to coat evenly.
- Add 30g of pickled ginger and mix well.
- Take portions of the mixture in your hands and form them into flat, round shapes that are easy to eat. (Key Tip!) Patties that are too thick will be difficult to cook through, so aim for a thickness of about 1cm.
- Coat the surface of the formed pork patties with 1-2 tbsp of all-purpose flour.
- In a separate bowl, combine 1 egg and a pinch of salt, and whisk until smooth to create a beaten egg.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the pan is hot, dip the pork patties in the beaten egg and place them in the pan.
- Once the bottoms are browned, flip the pork patties over.
- After flipping, cover the pan and steam-fry over low to medium heat for 3 minutes.
- Dip the pork patties again into the remaining beaten egg and cook. (Key Tip!) If you find this troublesome, you can pour the egg into the sides of the pan and wrap it around the pork.
- Once the surfaces are browned, turn off the heat.
- Transfer to a plate and serve with your favorite sauce or mayonnaise. Enjoy!
