- 1 Egg
- 2 slices Bread
- 20g Mixed Cheese
Seasonings
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 100ml Milk
- 5g Butter
- Pinch of Salt
Steps
- Crack 1 egg into a bowl and whisk.
- Add 1 tbsp sugar and 100ml milk to the whisked egg and mix well.
- Cut 2 slices of bread into 1cm cubes.
- Add the cut bread to the egg mixture bowl and mix well until no wateriness remains. (This is the key!) Cutting into small pieces allows the egg mixture to soak in thoroughly in a short time.
- Melt 5g butter in a frying pan over medium-low heat.
- Spread the bread soaked in egg mixture into a circle about 20cm in diameter in the melted butter in the frying pan, pressing them together to fill any gaps.
- Be careful not to burn, and grill over medium-low heat until the bottom is golden brown. Turn off the heat once browned.
- Transfer the browned French toast to a plate.
- Cover the plate with the frying pan, flip it over, and return the dough to the frying pan.
- Sprinkle a pinch of salt evenly over the French toast and scatter 20g mixed cheese over it.
- Cover with a lid and steam-grill over low heat for 3 minutes. (This is the key!) If the cheese isn't melted, add about 1 more minute to the heating time.
- Once the cheese has melted and the bottom is golden brown, transfer to a plate.
- Sprinkle with dried parsley if desired, and it's done!
- Serve with syrup if you like.
