Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Bell Peppers 4-5
- Thinly Sliced Pork Belly (or thinly sliced pork) 200g
Seasonings
- Vegetable Oil 1 tbsp
- Sesame Oil 1 tsp
- [A] Soy Sauce 1 tsp
- [A] Sesame Oil 1 tsp
- [A] Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 1 tbsp
- [A] Potato Starch 1 tbsp
- [B] Oyster Sauce 1 tbsp
- [B] Soy Sauce 2 tsp
- [B] Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 4 tbsp
- [B] Sugar 1 tsp
Steps
- Core the tops of the bell peppers (4-5), then cut them in half lengthwise. (Key Tip!) Leaving the seeds in allows you to enjoy the bell pepper's umami.
- Thinly slice the bell peppers diagonally, keeping the seeds. (Key Tip!) Slicing diagonally helps the sauce penetrate better and enhances the bell pepper's sweetness.
- Cut the thinly sliced pork belly (200g) in half using kitchen shears.
- Add [A] Soy Sauce 1 tsp, [A] Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 1 tbsp, and [A] Potato Starch 1 tbsp to the cut pork and mix well. (Key Tip!) The potato starch locks in flavor, tenderizes the meat, and thickens the sauce.
- Add [A] Sesame Oil 1 tsp to the seasoned pork and mix. (Key Tip!) Coating with oil further tenderizes the meat and makes it easier to separate when stir-frying.
- In a bowl, combine [B] Oyster Sauce 1 tbsp, [B] Soy Sauce 2 tsp, [B] Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 4 tbsp, and [B] Sugar 1 tsp. Mix until the sugar dissolves.
- Heat Vegetable Oil 1 tbsp in a frying pan and stir-fry the seasoned pork, breaking it apart, until fragrant. (Key Tip!) Stir-frying the pork first leaves its deliciousness in the pan, infusing the subsequent bell peppers with flavor.
- Once the pork is nicely browned, remove it from the pan.
- In the same pan with the pork drippings, stir-fry the sliced bell peppers over high heat for a short time. (Key Tip!) Stir-frying until slightly charred retains a crispy texture while bringing out the sweetness.
- When the bell peppers are cooked, return the pork to the pan and toss briefly to combine.
- Add the prepared sauce mixture and stir well to coat everything.
- Finally, drizzle in Sesame Oil 1 tsp for aroma.
- Once everything is well combined, turn off the heat, plate, and serve. Enjoy!
